"Captured on Canvas"
22 June - 18 July 2021, 10:00 - 16:00, Tuesdays - Sundays (closed Mondays)
From the botanical to mechanical, a unique collection of art inspired in Lancashire by Glynn Ward.
Glynn Ward has been a practising artist for many years. Glynn took his degree in Fine Art and Photography at Sheffield Art Collage. He steered away from the thriving mining and steel industry of Sheffield to carve out a professional career as an artist.
Glynn is originally from Yorkshire; it was only when he left his native white rose county and moved to Lancashire that he re-discovered his lost love for painting.
Glynn has a love of Lancashire and has taken many photographs of its iconic features and landscape and given them character and life again in his paintings and art. Glynn uses the vibrancy of nature’s pallets to decide on his tones when he is painting and is drawn using natural daylight to give his work contrast.
Glynn has worked in a range of media, oil paint on canvas, gouache, acrylic, pen and ink and etching. His subject matter has included portraiture, landscape, cities, religious imagery, and illustration.
Glynn is drawn and fascinated by everyday life and the beauty in ordinary objects and can arrange his compositions with great detail yet capture its majestic simplicity. He likes the painting to show its emotion, where that is a feeling of calm, or tranquillity, or an emotive subject that could rouse nostalgic memories in building, a particular landscape, or an object.
