There are a number of local organisations holding information about their history and the local area. In many cases we don't know what information they have only that it is a possibility that they may have what we are looking for. So it would be very useful to have a single place where we can discover what exists and who to contact to try and get access to it.
That can easily be done using this system as we can define a new repository for that group with contact details of the organisation holding the materials in it. For each repository we define a set of indviduals who can add and edit details about information it holds. So that organisation can have complete control over their section of the overall catalogue. Of course they can ask for other specific archivists to help them with their part.
