Societies, Clubs, Sports, Shops, Sailors, RNLI, Individuals, Families, Businesses. Lytham Archive needs your help to grow. Have you any unwanted postcards, photographs, slides, posters, paintings, historical anecdotes, maps, or anything related to Lytham & its surrounding areas e.g. Clubdays / Lifeboats / Shops both interior or exterior / Artefacts or anything of local historical interest. Does your family have historical links / interests in Lytham History - have you family records, etc (you wish to be retained) kept for future kin to view / research? Have you any artefacts / anecdotes from your school days, photos, newspaper cuttings? The list is endless, if unsure of relevance please come and ask / discuss with us. The Group’s archives, housed in their own room on the first floor of Lytham Institute, have a total of over 10,000 documents and items of local history and heritage events.
Additional items are sought from members of the public, either by gift or loan, for careful conservation for posterity and/or use in exhibitions.
We have a recent research of the local graveyards and if you are lucky we will be able to find long lost graves. Please pop in with as much information you have . See you soon

Archive contents
Look in the Archive catalogue to see what information we hold. The information is mainly printed on paper, so you will need to come to the archive to read it as we haven't the effort available to be able to digitise it.
The catalogue is based upon information recorded over the years on an old laptop that is not easy to use. The new system has a lot more functionality and is available to browse online although work is still required to enhance the information stored within it. The archivists also need training on how to use it, so please be aware of that in the early days of using it.
Help required
- We are always looking for photos, 35mm slides. VHS DVD or any cine films of Lytham .
- Any club day photos or films or memorabilia . The researchers and archivists have the technology to restore them and keep for future use .Thank you
