In 1857 the Bath House building on East Beach was demolished and the ‘Neptune Hotel’ was erected in its place. This was later changed to Queen’s Hotel. For a short period it was given the name Rat and Parrot. Now the name has been restored to The Queen’s.
The Queen’s Hotel (Central Beach)
Built in 1854 and originally called the Neptune, this hotel was recently briefly renamed the Rat and Parrot, but it is now back to its long-standing name of the Queen’s. It is unusual in that it is one of the few painted red-brick buildings in Lytham. It has a distinctive wide rectangular single storey porch with an arched stone surround over the door providing a small balcony on the first floor. The front elevation is little changed from the early Victorian classical style in which it was built.
